Bring a Live Yes! Connect group to your community.
Live Yes! Connect groups offers volunteer-run peer-led networking opportunities to empower people to live their best life. Facilitators plan and host at least four or more events in their local community.
Live Yes! Connect groups offer opportunities for:
- Adults living with arthritis and are inclusive to adults with any type of arthritis or rheumatic condition of all ages and stages or
- Parents/Guardians of a child living with rheumatic disease.
Adult friends, family and, caregivers are welcome at all events.
Facilitators are people living with arthritis, caregiver/loved-one of a person with arthritis, or a parent/guardian of a child with any form of rheumatic disease.
Facilitators are passionate about positively impact people. They are community organizers, comfortable sharing experiences and educating others, and foster connection points to the Live Yes! Arthritis Network and the Arthritis Foundation. To activate a Live Yes! Connect group in your community to provide support and guide others in their journey with arthritis.
Facilitators go through an application and training process to ensure that you have the tools you need to begin and grow a Live Yes! Connect group in your community. As a future facilitator, you know the unique challenges of living with arthritis or raising a child with rheumatic diseases. You connect with others who are also navigating life with arthritis. You will meet amazing people, make lifelong friends, and create great memories.
A Live Yes! Connect Facilitator:
- Plans, coordinates, and facilitates fun and engaging group meetings and social activities and events.
- Plan and organize at least four meetings or events per year. We recommended at least once per quarter. Fifty percent of scheduled meetings must be educational
- Promotes, markets, and maintains a group that is supportive and a safe place to share thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
- Uses our Constituent Relationship Management Software to: add events to our website, maintain contacts and a group email list to communicate to group participants and report on attendance at support group activities.
- Communicates with the Arthritis Foundation staff (national & local), local Live Yes! Network Leader chair, group participants, and prospective group participants.
Our volunteer-driven peer-led support group program is part of an expanding range of Arthritis Foundation resources that provide personalized help and support to people with all types of arthritis and related conditions and we meet in person in communities across the country. Our peer-led Live Yes! Connect groups get together for activities and share about their experience on the arthritis rollercoaster. Some examples of group activities are attending wellness education lectures, learning arthritis friendly exercises, discovering coping skills and strategies, meeting for coffee, lunch, going bowling, playing miniature golf, and picnics in the parks.
Expectations: Our Facilitators are the organizers of our local groups and agree to host at least 4 meetings or events in a 12 month period. Ideally once per quarter. Many of our facilitators offer formal or informal education or life hacks at almost every meeting. We do ask for at least a 1-year commitment because it does take time to build and grow a support group.
