Enjoying the warmer weather? Summer is still about a month out and it’s not too early to plan outdoor activities. Our next meet up is definitely one for outdoor recreation! We would like to plan and take a trip to Manitou Lake, north of Woodland Park for a picnic/bar-b-que, fishing, walking/hiking and plenty fresh air and sunshine. There is ample parking, restrooms, grilles or bring our own, should we bar-b-que. The park/ground fairly flat, not too hard to navigate on foot and has some well defined trails around the lake. There is a $7 fee per vehicle to enter the park. Fishing is usually good and does require a Colorado State Fishing license; a one day permit is $13.75 or the annual license for $34.75. Sixty five years of age and over you are eligible for a lifetime fishing license for $9.75. Children 15 and under do not require a license, 16 and 17 year olds annual license is $9.75.
Fishing is optional. Manitou Lake Park is a popular birding area with a diversity of waterfowl and land bird species, hiking/walking, bicycle path, leashed pets are welcome.
More details for this event will be forthcoming in the next few weeks as people register. Summer can be an extremely busy time of year and if you are not able to attend no problem. If you would like join us or have any questions, please call Gary at 719-216-5318. Want to go but need a ride? Want to fish but don’t have the necessary gear? Let’s see if I/We can accommodate you!
