Arthritis Support Network Leader: Demi Type of Arthritis: Limited Scleroderma / Raynaud's Syndrome
About this Arthritis Support Network:
My vision for this group is to empower individuals living with all types of arthritis. By creating a support group that offers educational materials, wellness classes and advocacy updates all in a supportive, fun environment.
My name is Demi. I found out I had Scleroderma/Raynaud’s at age 19. After meeting with my rheumatologist I discovered there isn't a cure. Over time I found myself looking for others like me. That's when I reached out to a local Scleroderma support group. After many years with them I realized that arthritis comes in so many different forms and I would like to learn about all of them. That's when I found out my local area didn't have a support system in place that focused on arthritis as a whole. That is when I decided I would like to help further my community's knowledge about arthritis for others like me living in Montgomery County and it's surrounding areas.
I believe every patients' voice needs to be heard. That's why I wanted to start a support group so newly diagnosed and existing patients would be able to gather together in a non-judgemental environment that allows them to discuss concerns openly. This to me is so important because I spent many years with many questions that went unanswered. My hopes are to give my community this type of resources.
