About this Live Yes! Connect Group:
This group is to empower each other to thrive with Arthritis. We want to bring others who have arthritis and rheumatic diseases together in a positive, encouraging, empowering, and supportive atmosphere. Idaho has numerous experiences to take advantage of, as it presents a challenge living in such a wide-open place.
I was diagnosed with arthritis at the age of 7. I was lucky to grow up in a safe and kind environment that included an unnatural amount of time in the woods, despite my Arthritis. I value the nature world greatly even today. It has not always been easy to find my place and be comfortable in the body I was given. My family and community did not have the experience or wisdom to share with what I would face, or how to approach it. Through many ups and down, frustrations and pain. After many years of finding my way with family, friends, and other people around me I've come to a place where I know how to treat myself well and live with intention.
I need to both continue to learn and share with others on this same journey. Idaho is without the support it needs for people facing Arthritis. The state is wide open, and this presents a set of challenges as well as opportunities. I know I will learn and grow during this myself, but I want to make it so that future diagnosed people in the place I was born and love can face it with as much information, support, and awareness as possible.
I am a wife and mother of three boys in my 30s. I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis when I was 19 years old. I keep a positive outlook on my diagnosis and like to spread awareness. I like to educate, inspire, and give a glimpse inside the life of someone who has RA.
I am facilitating a Live Yes! Connect Group because Idaho does not have a support group and I believe it is crucial that those who are affected by arthritis and rheumatic diseases have somewhere they can go with people who understand what they may be going through. Support, encouragement, and connection is key to maintaining mental and emotional health while battling these diseases.
