JA Parent Support Network launched: 2018
JA Parent Support Network Leader: Stacy
About this JA Parent Support Network:
To help support parents who have a child with rheumatic disease understand ways of improving their child’s life with pain and help educate them about the disease. JA Parent Support Networks let individuals know that they are not alone and gives them a voice to share with others.
My daughter, Sophia, was diagnosed with JIA at the age of 3. She quickly moved from Oligo to Poly within the first 6 months of diagnosis and also developed Uveitis in her right eye. I am a strong believer that in order to make a difference and help someone else, you must get involved and get information. Parents and Kids are the best advocates for treatment and awareness, but sometimes it is overwhelming where to start or how to process and navigate this roller coaster of a journey with JA. That is why I am here, I was overwhelmed when we first got our diagnosis and wish we had had a local support group of families available to help us process that initial information. I hope to bring that connection and networking to our community in Des Moines.
