About this Live Yes! Connect Group::
Our vision for this support group is to create a group where people can come together who are seeking to learn more about their illness, their loved one's illness, or are simply wanting to hear how others are coping living with arthritis. We want to engage people, create awareness and educate the community about arthritis. If there is specific information that people are seeking then I will make sure to provide them with that information. Our commitment is to serve all of the group participants to the best we can.
Our vision is that families, caregivers, and warriors can all interact and speak openly about struggles and triumphs while the foundation advocates and fights for resources to find better options and cures. Where warriors can help each other along the way with pep talks and a shoulder to lean on. Where a caregiver can vent about how sometimes they feel like they are not doing enough when they are doing their best and be told that every little thing they do matters. Where a person new to the journey can be told its ok to feel lost because we will help guide them through this storm.
Hello! My name is Elida. There is nothing more rewarding to me personally than to help those in need. I have a very deep and personal connection as a long term caregiver to both my Mom who suffers from arthritis and my sister who was born with a disability. Throughout the years, I have been by their sides navigating the healthcare system, sharing in their journey. I am currently working full-time for an organization that serves non-profits. It is my desire to help bring people living with arthritis together for connection, education and empowerment; as well as their caregivers. When I first learned about the opportunity to start a support group in the Boca Raton area, it was an immediate, "YES! How can I help make it happen?"
Hello, everyone, my name is Michell Aldas. I am a 32-year-old vibrate soul stuck in a body that doesn't match my soul. My journey in life has been a whirlwind but I wouldn't change it for the world. It has made me the caring, compassionate, survivor, fighter and pint-size spicy pepper of a woman I am today. I am a warrior against Psoriatic Arthritis, Spondylosis, PTSD and Fibromyalgia. I was 24 when my world took a cannonball to the gut and I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer. With this diagnosis, my soul and body took some time to recover and after 3 battles against the C-monster (AKA Cancer). I am now blessed to say I am in remission. After what has seemed endless chemotherapy visits and doctors visits I thought my war had ended, little did I know my body had waged a new one. I now had a new C-monster just under another name a Chronic Illness. My body during cancer and before had been battling it but cancer had taken priority and it was neglected which led my chronic illnesses to be undercover and get worse. This lead to late diagnosis where it meant a lot of damage has been done. I decided to take my battles and my struggles and give them a voice. A voice that could help others and I decided to advocate for Chronic Illnesses and help people like me find answers and the help they required to be able to Live a life of Yes! I know have joined the Arthritis Foundation where I hopefully can put my drive and energy that my body has left to help and advocate for my fellow warriors to continue to live life to its fullest potential.
My soul is craving to be an advocate for people battling with me. I want to be able to help with any resources I find and help others get the support they need to not give up and continue striving to live the best life they can.
