Arthritis Support Network launched: 2014

Arthritis Support Network Leader: Patrice                  Type of Arthritis: Polymyalgia Rheumatica

About this Arthritis Support Network:

My vision for this group is to plan on holding monthly meetings that will vary in topics relating to arthritis. Diet, exercise, health updates and legislative updates are all important to arthritis patients. I would also like to have the group members spouses, significant others, and/or family members attend some of the meetings as well. I plan on putting out a monthly newsletter so that people who can't make the meetings will know what was discussed at each of the meetings.

About Patrice:

I have 2 types of Arthritis. I have OA in my left knee and Polymyalgia Rheumatica (PMR) all over my body, which includes the muscles and joints. I am on the Board of Directors for the Sacramento Arthritis Foundation. I am the 2017 Adult Honoree for the Sacramento Walk to Cure Arthritis. I am also active in the Advocacy Summit meetings that take place every year.

The current leader of the group had to step down and there was no one to take over the group so I said yes. I want the group to continue as this is an important part of living with arthritis and sharing each other's journey with our diseases.

Hi Kathy:

Thank you for your e-mail and for heading up the Sacramento chapter of the Arthritis Introspective Support Group.    I look forward to meeting you.  I was diagnosed with severe Rhuematoid Arthritis. Having RA limits my ability to be social among other things. I am married (33 years) and my wife and son, like your family members, completely support me in my well-being.  Yes, I agree there is a need for a support group for individuals coping with various forms of Arthritis. We lead a very different life than most.  Please continue to send me e-mails regarding any meetings/events.  Have a good day!    - Joe De Luca
